About the Role
The Senior Director, Communications and Media Relations serves as the chief spokesperson for the association, playing a pivotal role in shaping and executing AHRI's global communications strategies. This position is designed to bridge the gap between the association's leadership and the public, ensuring that AHRI's positions on critical legislative and regulatory issues are effectively communicated to stakeholders both within and outside the industry.
In this capacity, you will craft high-level speeches for the Board Chairman, incoming Board Chairman, and President/CEO, while managing all internal and external communications, media relations, and social media efforts. You will also serve as the editor for all AHRI publications and supervise the Director of Brand Management & Marketing and the Communications Manager. The role requires a deep understanding of the legislative landscape to translate complex policy matters into compelling narratives.
Hiring Process
Candidates selected for this position will be required to complete a writing assessment as part of the interview process. The interview workflow is designed to evaluate both strategic communication skills and the ability to articulate complex industry positions clearly.
Location and Work Model
This position is based at AHRI's office in Arlington, VA. While AHRI does not currently offer a hybrid work program, employees are eligible to participate in the Alternate Workplace Program after 90 days of employment and a successful 90-day appraisal, subject to supervisor approval. Candidates local to the Northern Virginia/DC-Metro area will be given preference.

Requirements
