Artera's mission is to make healthcare #1 in customer service. Trusted by over 1,000 provider organizations—including specialty groups, FQHCs, large IDNs, and federal agencies—the platform engages 100 million patients annually. Since its founding in 2015, Artera has been recognized for its innovative technology and business growth, earning accolades such as the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies and Deloitte Technology Fast 500. Named a top place to work by Built In and Forbes, Artera stands at the edge of the biggest technological shift in healthcare's history.
Artera is seeking a hands-on Senior Application Security Engineer, AI & Product Security to operate at the frontier where AI security is still being defined. You will work alongside AI builders and Systems Engineers to threat-model agentic and LLM-powered features, harden PHI/PII-handling workflows, and ship the "paved road" tooling that keeps innovation fast and safe.
This is a unique opportunity to translate policy into code, building guardrails for agent identity and prompt/output filtering while providing the team with logging, scanning, and safe tool-use patterns. You will find the secure path and ship it with our AI Builders and System Engineers, ensuring that security gates are embedded in the pipeline rather than treated as an afterthought. This role supports federal-facing systems and requires adherence to strict data protection, access control, and incident response protocols.
Based in our Seattle, WA office, this position emphasizes intentional in-person collaboration. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with AI builders, Systems Engineers, and security leadership as we build Artera's Seattle tech hub. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks is expected, and ongoing compliance training may be required.
Artera operates a hub-based model to cultivate strong local connections and team cohesion. While we have hybrid office locations in Santa Barbara, CA, and Philadelphia (Wayne), PA, we are intentionally building geographically concentrated teams in key metropolitan areas known as "Hiring Hubs." This role is based in the Seattle Metro Area. To be eligible, candidates must reside in one of our hybrid office cities or designated hiring hubs. As our hubs grow, we may establish local offices to further enhance in-person connection, anticipating a hybrid model that considers commute times and public transit access.
Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States and have the ability to provide proof of full-time, long-term authorization. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship or support visa transfers. This role supports federal-facing systems, so candidates must meet eligibility for a government background check.
Artera may use AI tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications or analyzing resumes. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment; final hiring decisions are made by humans.
Artera is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fair and equitable hiring practices. All candidates are considered without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetics, protected veteran status, or any other protected status. We provide reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees in compliance with state and federal laws. If you need an accommodation, please reach out to the HR team.
Artera values privacy and is committed to providing a work environment free of discrimination and harassment. By submitting your application, you consent to the processing of your personal information in conjunction with your application.
