Working under general supervision with latitude for technical judgment, the incumbent will perform professional accounting functions according to established procedures. This involves knowledge of complex accounting systems, the assembly and analysis of data, and the proactive delivery of clear, professional communication regarding changes and relevant information to supervisors and colleagues. The role also emphasizes building cross-functional partnerships with internal customers across the organization and participating in training and professional development related to accounting, finance, and leadership.
The day-to-day workflow involves preparing, entering, and reviewing routine financial transactions, including general ledger reviews and journal entry preparation. The incumbent will perform routine analysis of financial data to ensure adherence to governing regulations, policies, and procedures, analyzing data for possible errors and initiating corrective actions when necessary. Key deliverables include preparing routine financial reports, such as financial and balance sheet reconciliations, and producing complete, well-organized documentation.
The role requires a deep understanding of finance systems and data to provide accounting and analytical support. Specific system responsibilities include processing requests in the Budget Revision System, Fund Maintenance System, and Financial Transaction System (FiTS) approval queues. The incumbent will also assist other departments with financial matters, document and update business processes and procedures, and recommend, develop, and implement process improvements. Additionally, the role involves assisting with various accounting and finance system implementations and completing assigned year-end tasks to assist with the preparation of the Annual Financial Report (AFR).
