About the Role
The Senior Accountant is a pivotal member of the Administration and Finance team at Mainspring Recovery, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Based in our Baltimore (Pikesville) office, this role is essential for managing daily and monthly accounting functions across Mainspring and its related entities. You will operate within a multi-entity healthcare environment, ensuring financial accuracy and robust controls while supporting timely reporting for strategic growth.
This position safeguards the organization's financial integrity and operational stability. Your work directly enables Mainspring's mission to deliver exceptional substance use disorder treatment by protecting the resources that fuel our expansion. You will collaborate closely with the CFO and cross-functional teams, including billing and revenue cycle, to resolve variances and maintain audit-ready records.
Working Environment
This is a full-time, on-site, exempt position located in Pikesville, MD. The role involves non-direct care duties within a fast-paced environment where urgency and accuracy are paramount. You will be expected to operate with a high degree of integrity, adhering to strict HIPAA and federal/state confidentiality requirements regarding Protected Health Information (PHI) and substance use disorder treatment records.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleRecord and review bank and credit card transactions across all entities
- check_circlePrepare and record monthly accruals and reconcile balance sheet accounts
- check_circleMaintain clean and audit-ready account schedules with proper documentation
- check_circleSupport external financial statement review by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries
- check_circleMonitor credit card usage and compare vendor charges to executed agreements
- check_circleSupport annual 1099 preparation and track annual filing calendars for all entities
- check_circleEnter approved employee expense reimbursements into payroll systems
- check_circleTrack payroll tax and unemployment tax accounts across all states of operation
- check_circleReconcile medical billing activity to the EMR and resolve variances with revenue cycle team
- check_circlePrepare monthly consolidation files including all eliminating entries
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- verifiedThree to six years of progressive accounting experience
- verifiedStrong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, and general ledger management
- verifiedAdvanced proficiency in Excel
- verifiedAbility to comply with HIPAA and federal/state confidentiality requirements
