About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Security Specialist to support operations at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of sensitive information and ensuring compliance with rigorous Department of Defense security standards. The position requires a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to safeguarding classified materials and personnel access.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
In this onsite role, you will serve as the frontline for document control and personnel security. Your daily activities will involve the classification review of inbound and outbound correspondence, managing document accountability databases, and processing classified mail and courier packages. You will be responsible for the secure destruction of classified materials, the processing of magnetic media, and the reproduction of sensitive documents.
Beyond document handling, you will manage facility access controls, including escorting visitors, conducting entry and exit inspections, and maintaining access logs. You will also support the security awareness and education programs, assist in preparing facility access badges, and maintain extensive customer databases. A significant portion of the role involves reviewing and tracking security clearance processing activities, conducting SAPNP and DCII reviews for candidates, and executing Special Access Program nomination processes.
Hiring Process & Requirements
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and hold a TS/SCI eligibility with the ability to access Special Access Program Information. A willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph is mandatory. While specific certifications like the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) or Special Program Security Certification (SPSC) can count toward experience requirements, all selected individuals must complete DoD SAPCO approved SAPNP training if performing personnel security functions.
