Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital is a Magnet-designated facility serving a seven-county area with a population of 218,000 residents. About the Role
As an Armed Security Officer, you will be the frontline guardian of a physically safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, and employees. This role is critical to maintaining the trust and safety of our community within our hospital and free-standing emergency departments.
Your day will involve actively monitoring Concealed Weapons Detection Systems at division entrances, ensuring that prohibited items are identified and handled with discretion. You will patrol the campus, monitor activity in and around our buildings, and conduct camera surveillance. When situations arise, you will evaluate the environment, maintain detailed logs, and take appropriate steps to resolve routine and emergency incidents professionally and timely. A key aspect of this role is exercising sound judgment regarding the use of weapons, utilizing them only in extreme attack scenarios when all non-violent options have been exhausted.
