The Scope Processing Technician is a critical guardian of patient safety, ensuring the effective and efficient cleaning and disinfection of endoscopes and related medical equipment. In this role, you will uphold the highest standards of care by strictly adhering to protocols that prevent infections and maintain the integrity of medical procedures.
Your day-to-day work involves a precise balance of technical skill and operational diligence. You will operate Automated Endoscopic Reprocessor (AER) units, manage chemical monitoring for high-level disinfection systems, and handle the assembly and delivery of intubation trays. Beyond the technical tasks, you play a vital role in maintaining a sterile environment, ensuring all equipment is properly covered during transfer and that the department remains clean, maintained, and fully stocked throughout your shift.
This position also offers opportunities for professional growth and leadership. You will be expected to educate new staff on endoscopy equipment, participate in department performance improvement projects, and stay current with trends in equipment and disinfection methods through continuing education. Effective communication and accurate documentation are essential, as you will support hospital-wide service excellence standards and comply with Joint Commission and hospital regulations.
