As a School Psychologist for our elementary schools, you will serve as a vital member of the multidisciplinary diagnostic team, dedicated to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of children in grades K-5. In this role, you will function as the chairperson of the school-based MTSS Problem Solving Team, guiding collaborative efforts to identify and address learning and behavioral challenges.
Your work is central to ensuring that every student receives the appropriate interventions and support they need. You will conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, facilitate eligibility determination meetings, and develop tailored intervention strategies. Beyond direct student assessment, you will act as a key consultant for parents, teachers, and school staff, fostering a supportive environment that bridges the gap between special education and general education needs.
You will report to the Assistant Superintendent for Equity and Student Services, the Director of Special Education, and the Director of Student Services. Your daily interactions will span across building administration, related services staff, special and general education teachers, and community agency personnel. Success in this position relies on strong teamwork and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with parents, children, and the broader school community.
This is a certificated personnel position within Bargaining Unit 1, requiring a Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Psychologist endorsement. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to assume leadership roles and possess a deep knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
Interested candidates should review the collective bargaining agreement between the Board of School Inspectors of School District 86 and the Council #86 of the American Federation of Teachers-Local 604 for details regarding salary and benefits. Applications are processed in accordance with district timelines for parent requests for evaluations.
We are committed to maintaining a harassment-free environment and promoting diversity within our schools. As a School Psychologist, you will uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism while ensuring compliance with all district, Board, state, and federal laws. We strive to create a culture where every student and staff member feels respected and supported.
