Westhab is a prominent community development organization dedicated to providing housing and supportive services for more than 10,000 of the most vulnerable members of our community each year. Our mission is "Building Communities. Changing Lives." We are staffed by an extraordinary group of hard-working professionals fully committed to this cause. As a results-driven organization, we focus on empowerment and impact, believing that the people and communities we serve deserve our very best every day.
The Safety Security Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of all clients, staff, and the property at our homeless shelter. Operating within a 24-hour facility, this position is vital to maintaining a secure environment while fostering a supportive atmosphere for residents.
This is a relief position that requires face-to-face relief and mandated overtime. You will report directly to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager. Your day will involve performing daily inspections of client rooms, escorting clients to appointments, and monitoring behavior while maintaining excellent rapport. You will control access at the main entrance using screening equipment to prevent weapons from entering the site and conduct hourly rounds throughout the entire facility, including hallways, stairwells, and utility areas.
In addition to physical security, you will be responsible for de-escalating potential crises, documenting incidents, and responding to emergencies by coordinating with police, fire departments, and other first responders. You will also manage administrative duties at the operations desk, including monitoring video surveillance and fire alarm systems, and assisting with client intakes and property management.
Working at Westhab is not easy; our expectations for all staff are high. We believe that joining our team means being ready for the challenges and expectations that come with serving our community. We are committed to maintaining safe and healthful working conditions in compliance with OSHA standards, ensuring our workplaces are free of serious recognized hazards.
