About the Role

In the Surgery and Operating Room department, you will deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. This role is vital to the patient journey, requiring you to prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use. You will perform scrub functions, including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies, and manage circulating functions by monitoring, recording, and communicating patient conditions while managing overall nursing care before, during, and after the procedure.

You will directly assist operating physicians with surgical tasks, including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning. This position offers the opportunity to work within a team dedicated to excellence in a fast-paced environment. The role is located at UAB St. Vincent's East and operates on a Monday through Friday schedule with shifts starting at 6:00 am. The position includes rotating holiday, weekend, and evening call requirements.
