This position is designed for a competent Nurse who practices independently within a clinical setting, demonstrating a comprehensive awareness of complex situations. The role focuses on providing both routine and complex care while maintaining a strategic view of long-range goals. A key aspect of this position is the ability to manage clinical contingencies, make appropriate assignments, and delegate effectively to other care providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Aligned with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, the Nurse utilizes the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—to address the increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families. The role requires the application of critical thinking to assess physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and developmental needs, developing specific plans of care that are modified based on evidence-based practice.
The position also emphasizes patient throughput and flow, requiring the ability to anticipate admission, discharge, and transfer needs. Nurses in this role are expected to coach on tools for validating orders and ensuring accuracy. Furthermore, the role involves planning and directing overall nursing care during assigned shifts, demonstrating stewardship of equipment, and actively participating in resourcing efforts.
Patient safety is paramount. This role incorporates safety guidelines to promote a safe environment and holds the Nurse accountable for nursing research and quality improvement activities. The position requires a strong knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare laws and regulations, ensuring compliance in all healthcare practices. Nurses are expected to communicate patient information effectively across the continuum of care and participate in the immediate investigation and reporting of near misses or safety incidents.
The role demands proficiency in clinical policies, health information documentation, and medical equipment management. Nurses must be able to analyze policy documentation, ensure organizational compliance, and assist in the development of specific procedures. This includes managing both paper and electronic patient records, transcribing verbal orders with accuracy, and troubleshooting basic medical equipment to ensure patient safety.
Multiple shifts are available for this full-time position. The role requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred) and at least one year of experience in the related nursing specialty (preferred). A current RN License in the state of employment or compact, along with BLS certification, is required.
