This Night Shift Progressive Care Unit position is designed to support hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on a medical/surgical unit. The role focuses on delivering comprehensive physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to a diverse patient population, including those recovering from pediatric care, pre- and post-PCI procedures, pacemaker insertions, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, and conditions such as CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, and sepsis.
Nurses in this role act as clinical leaders, assessing patients for potential deterioration and implementing skilled interventions with minimal supervision. The position involves operating advanced medical equipment, managing central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, and providing short-term ventilation support. Beyond direct patient care from admission to discharge, the role includes collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, precepting staff, and directing RNs, LPNs, CNAs, housekeeping, and dietary staff to ensure effective care delivery.
