About the Role

The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. This role provides care via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution.

In the operating room setting, you will prepare the OR suite with necessary supplies, equipment, and medications. Your day involves interviewing patients using two identifiers, transporting them to the appropriate OR suite and table using safety precautions, and performing timeouts prior to incision and exiting the suite. You will appropriately position and prep patients for procedures, support the surgical team during the procedure by responding to requests for extra supplies, blood, specimens, and medications, and finally transport the patient to the PACU or specific unit to provide a handoff to the receiving RN.
