We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical Unit, 2 West. This unit holds the unique distinction of being the only Sentara unit with the PRISM (Premiere Recognition in Specialty of Medical-Surgical) designation. The 25-bed medicine unit serves a diverse patient population, including those with stroke, kidney failure, diabetes, GI surgical needs, respiratory issues, and patients requiring chest tubes and trachs.
Nurses on this unit are committed to providing world-class care and have an active voice in decisions that impact workflow. The role involves assessing and admitting patients, conducting rounding checks, administering medications, communicating with family members, and managing overall patient care. Teamwork is exceptional, with everyone collaborating to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
New graduate RNs are welcome to apply. The unit offers a 10-week Transition to Practice (TTP) program focused on intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in IMC areas. For new graduates, this TTP program serves as the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support the transition to practice. The unit educator provides individualized orientation and oversees ongoing educational development to help advance your career.
