At HCA Healthcare, our colleagues are deeply committed to giving back to the communities we serve. Last year alone, our team invested over 156,000 hours volunteering. As a Respiratory Student Extern with TriStar Centennial Medical Center, you join an organization that values service and is dedicated to raising the bar in patient care.
TriStar Centennial Medical Center is a 740+ bed comprehensive facility on a 43-acre campus. As an affiliate of TriStar Health, we are home to specialized centers including the TriStar Centennial Heart & Vascular Center, TriStar Centennial Women's Hospital, The Children's Hospital, Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, and the Advanced Joint Replacement Institute. Our campus offers a wide range of medical and surgical programs, including behavioral health, 24-hour emergency services, neurosciences, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and rehabilitation.
HCA Healthcare has been named one of the World's Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute for ten consecutive years. In 2019, we invested an estimated $3.7 billion in charitable care, uninsured discounts, and uncompensated expenses. As Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr., our Co-Founder, said: "There is so much good to do in the world and so many different ways to do it."
The Respiratory Therapy Assistant role serves as a vital equipment and inventory technician within the Respiratory Care Department. You will be responsible for cleaning, monitoring, and maintaining all routine respiratory care equipment throughout the hospital, including medical oxygen supplies. This position requires utilizing technical clinical thinking to assist therapists in meeting patient needs while promoting customer service initiatives.
Your day-to-day impact involves ensuring the seamless operation of respiratory resources. You will perform daily processing of all respiratory equipment—disassembling, cleaning, assembling, and testing according to department policies. You will manage inventory using LEAN processes, ensuring supplies and rental equipment are stocked and available where needed. Additionally, you will maintain adequate inventory of oxygen gas cylinders in storage and patient care areas, and coordinate the delivery of electrical equipment requiring calibration or preventative maintenance to the Biomedical Engineering department. Maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free work area is also a key part of your responsibilities.
We are currently reviewing applications for the Respiratory Student Extern opening. Qualified candidates will be contacted directly for interviews. Submit your application today to join our team and help us raise the bar in patient care.
