NORC at the University of Chicago is an objective, non-partisan research institution that delivers reliable data and rigorous analysis to guide critical programmatic, business, and policy decisions. Since 1941, our teams have conducted groundbreaking studies, created and applied innovative methods and tools, and advanced principles of scientific integrity and collaboration. Today, government, corporate, and nonprofit clients around the world partner with us to transform increasingly complex information into useful knowledge.
The Health Care Evaluation Research department evaluates the effectiveness and impact of health care programs and policies, with a focus on improving how care is financed and delivered. The team supports federal, state, and nonprofit clients through rigorous mixed-methods research on Medicare, Medicaid, and other health and human services programs. Our multidisciplinary team includes economists, statisticians, data scientists, and qualitative researchers with deep experience in health policy and program evaluation. Together we generate actionable insights that help policymakers improve cost, access, and quality in health care.
As a Research Associate I, you will join a team dedicated to advancing health policy through data-driven insights. You will provide essential research support on health care and health policy topics, conducting literature reviews and environmental scans to inform our work. Your day-to-day will involve collaborating with senior researchers to clean and prepare data files, support the analysis of primary and secondary data, and develop tables, graphics, and written summaries from both quantitative and qualitative findings. You will also contribute to the broader mission by assisting in the development of data collection protocols, training materials, and proposal development.
This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago Loop office, requiring a minimum of six days per month in the office. We offer a business casual environment with an emphasis on continuous learning and collegiality. While occasional travel for site visits and meetings may be required, the core of the role is collaborative, allowing you to form strong relationships with colleagues who take pride in the impact their work is making on a global scale.
