Role Overview

The Remote Traveling Estate Specialist is a full-time position that combines remote work with significant travel. In this role, you will be responsible for quickly evaluating items, negotiating prices, and purchasing collectibles directly from clientele at buying events held in partner jewelry stores. Once purchased, these items are assessed, cleaned, and listed for resale at auction. A successful specialist possesses a strong understanding of the items we purchase, along with the industry knowledge required to confidently communicate product value and execute purchases in accordance with National Rarities' policies and values.

Key Responsibilities

• Event Participation & Purchasing: Travel to sponsored buying events to negotiate pricing and purchase a wide variety of valuable items, including jewelry, diamonds, watches, sterling silver, gold, coins, currency, fine art, memorabilia, autographs, and other collectibles.

• Customer Service: Deliver excellent service to both event sponsors and customers while efficiently closing sales.

• Item Identification & Description: Accurately identify and describe items for online auction resale.

• Policy Compliance: Adhere strictly to company processes regarding buying policies and customer experience standards.

• Training Attendance: Visit the headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, for an initial three-week training period upon hire, plus two additional visits for training sessions held in July and January.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in buying and/or appraising jewelry or other estate items.

• Travel Availability: Ability to travel independently for at least 30 weeks per year, typically in 4-5 consecutive day trips.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 40-50 lbs on a regular basis with ease.

• Visual Acuity: Strong visual ability to focus closely on and identify fine print and hallmarks.

• Documentation: Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license. A Real ID and valid passport are required upon hire.

• Soft Skills: Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. Must be confident, positive, and poised, with the ability to reason intelligently and communicate clearly. Keen attention to detail is essential.

• Certifications: Certifications such as GG (Graduate Gemologist), AJP (Accredited Jewelry Professional), or Master Watchmaker are preferred.
