About the Role
The Registered Nurse serves as a vital member of our critical care teams, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual patient care according to unit policies. Working under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator, you will provide direct nursing care while supervising non-RN personnel. In a charge role, you will delegate and supervise unit activities, ensuring a high level of service across the continuum of care.
Our Units
We offer specialized opportunities within our Heart and Vascular and Cardiothoracic divisions:
Heart and Vascular Cardiac ICU (5-1 SP) A fast-paced, high-acuity, 14-bed critical care unit caring for adult patients with complex cardiac and medical diagnoses, including myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, unstable arrhythmias, and heart failure. Our staff are trained in advanced heart failure management, including short- and long-term mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella, LVAD) and evaluation for advanced therapies and transplantation.
RN-HVC Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU/WP3) An 18-bed cardiac surgery unit specializing in complex post-operative care for CABG, valve replacements, aortic dissection repairs, heart transplants, and LVAD implantation. This is the only unit in the YNHH health system caring for patients requiring ECMO (VV or VA). Nurses are trained on devices such as IABP, Impella/VADs, and CRRT based on experience and skill progression.
HVC Cardiovascular ICU and Stepdown (5-4 SP) A 14-bed hybrid unit consisting of 8 ICU and 6 stepdown beds. We specialize in caring for patients post-complex vascular surgery (aortic repairs) and post-cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements) in the ICU, while the stepdown beds support patients with a variety of complex heart and vascular diagnoses.

- check_circleAssist physicians and care for patients during special neuro procedures
- check_circleDevelop, communicate, and document individualized plans of care involving the healthcare team
- check_circleManage care for patients on ventilators and those with tracheostomies
Requirements
