About the Unit
As an RN in our fast-paced, 32-bed post-operative unit, you will care for a mixed population of orthopedic patients. Our team is a collaborative mix of RNs, LNAs, Unit Secretaries, Nursing students, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Case Managers, Quality partners, Medical Students, Residents, and Attendings who work together to provide Miller 6 patients with the highest quality care.
We have state-of-the-art rooms with beautiful views of the UVM campus and Lake Champlain. Every room is equipped with a ceiling lift and plenty of room for families and space in which to do physical therapy. We primarily treat post-surgical patients including trauma, total hip & knee replacements, hip fractures, and spine patients.
Our nurses are encouraged to grow professionally through Orthopedic-specific certifications and have the opportunity to advance through the Clinical Advancement and Recognition Program (CARP). We ensure our nurses are truly happy and feel valued, offering structured preceptorships and continuing education. Our team culture is unlike what you'll find at other hospitals, and nurses truly have a voice here through our shared governance.
