About the Team
The Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Our Trauma Burn 5 unit serves as a critical hub for delivering specialized, high-acuity care to patients and families facing complex medical challenges.
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse I, you will provide individualized, goal-directed patient care at a competent level, utilizing the nursing process to ensure safe and effective outcomes. This role is designed for professionals who thrive in a dynamic setting where they can lead assigned team members while collaborating closely with a broader healthcare network. Your focus will be on delivering patient- and family-centered care that addresses physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
In this position, you will function within a professional practice model that emphasizes shared governance, peer review, and continuous professional development. You will be responsible for assessing patients, developing nursing diagnoses, planning interventions, and evaluating outcomes in accordance with MUSC policies. A key aspect of your day-to-day work involves maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through respectful, accepting, and professional behavior. You will also coordinate care delivery using care management principles, identifying clinical priorities to actively improve patient outcomes.
Hiring Process
We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic individuals to join our team. Candidates with a Bachelor of Nursing degree are preferred; however, those hired with an Associate or Diploma degree will be required to enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years of hire and complete it within four years. Applicants must possess a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse and hold current licensure from the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
