The General Adult Unit is a nationally and internationally recognized program dedicated to treating individuals with a variety of mental health conditions. Our approach utilizes an intensive, multi-disciplinary model that combines individual therapy, milieu therapy, and process-oriented, experiential, and psycho-educational group therapies to foster healing and growth.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will serve as a vital member of a multi-disciplined team driven by a bold vision to change lives. In this role, you will perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in alignment with team treatment plans. You will administer medical treatments as prescribed by physicians and provide essential psychosocial support and education to patients and their families.
Beyond direct patient care, you will provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers and other paraprofessional staff, while documenting and reporting patient progress to the broader treatment team. All new clinical staff begin an extended clinical orientation and training immediately upon their first day, ensuring you are fully supported as you integrate into our community.
At Sheppard Pratt, we are more than just a workplace; we are a community of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing hope and healing to individuals facing life's challenges. We offer a commitment to professional development, including a comprehensive tuition reimbursement program to support ongoing education and licensure preparation. Our culture is built on the belief that every team member contributes to a mission that changes lives.
Candidates must hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in Maryland at the time of appointment. Candidates residing in a compact state may apply with a multistate license but must obtain a Maryland RN license within 60 days of relocation. Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting is preferred but not required.
