About the Role

As an RN First Assistant (RNFA) in our Surgery department, you will play a critical role in the surgical team, providing direct assistance to surgeons before, during, and after procedures. This position requires a high level of technical skill and clinical judgment to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

In this role, you will position patients to provide the best exposure for surgical procedures while maximizing comfort and safety. You will implement physician orders to visualize the operative site, utilizing techniques such as tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation. Your responsibilities also include achieving hemostasis, assisting with body plane closure, applying wound dressings, and securing drainage systems. You will apply evidence-based practice to deliver nursing care tailored to the age-specific and clinical needs of every patient.

Schedule and Compensation

This is a regular, full-time position working 10-hour day shifts from 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. The role includes a self-scheduled on-call rotation, with first call available 24 hours a day and second call scheduled Monday through Friday until 7:00 p.m., and Saturday through Sunday until 5:00 p.m.
