At Pioneer Medical Center, we are dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality healthcare to our community. Our mission centers on providing age-specific care for patients of all stages of life, from infants to the geriatric population, ensuring that every individual receives the attention and expertise they deserve.
As a Registered Nurse on our Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical Unit, you will be the backbone of patient care, utilizing the nursing process to deliver exceptional service. This role is designed for a professional who thrives in dynamic environments, balancing the critical needs of emergency cases with the steady care required in medical/surgical settings.
In this position, you will direct and guide patient and family teaching activities while supervising ancillary personnel. You will collaborate closely with the nursing team to create comprehensive Plans of Care, applying sound nursing judgment to manage complex patient conditions. Whether administering medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, or managing life-and-death situations, your work ensures the highest standards of professional nursing practice are maintained.
The environment is fast-paced and often stressful, requiring critical thinking and the ability to resolve multiple patient care issues simultaneously. You will be responsible for coping with unique situations, from accompanying patients during transfers to managing high-volume census periods. Success in this role demands integrity, flexibility, and the ability to maintain composure and clear communication under pressure.
We believe in the power of continuous learning. As a member of our team, you are encouraged to promote life-long learning by actively participating in seminars, conferences, and in-services. You will stay current with the latest nursing literature and share your knowledge with colleagues. Additionally, you will have opportunities to participate in committee work and policy revisions, helping to shape the future of our unit.

Founded in 1947 through the efforts of local resident Freeman Fairfield and community members, the facility officially opened in 1950 to provide acute health care and surgical services. The organization holds licensure from the State of Colorado Department of Health and Human Services and maintains certification for Medicare and Medicaid programs while accepting private insurance and self-pay arrangements.
In 1964, the Walbridge Memorial Convalescent Wing was established to offer long-term care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation services. This 33-bed unit focuses on individualized care addressing physical, emotional, nutritional, and spiritual needs for residents requiring assistance. The Wing operates under state licensure and accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and private-pay residents.
Primary care delivery is managed through the Meeker Family Health Center, which began as a rural health clinic in 1990. Physicians, nurse practitioners, and staff at this center work to meet the health requirements of both the local population and visitors. The combined services of the hospital, the convalescent wing, and the health center ensure comprehensive medical support for the region.
