About the Role
Our Corporate Merchandising team is seeking a strategic and results-driven Refurb Buyer to grow and optimize our refurbished, open-box, and recertified product assortments. This role is critical for sourcing high-quality refurbished technology, building strong vendor partnerships, and delivering profitable, customer-centric offerings while upholding Micro Center's trusted standards.\n The ideal candidate brings strong merchant instincts, a data-driven mindset, and experience navigating secondary markets to create value across the full product lifecycle. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Web Development, Marketing, QA, Services, Operations, and Inventory to ensure product quality, warranty alignment, and effective lifecycle management. Relocation assistance is provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleSource, evaluate, and procure refurbished, open-box, and recertified products across key technology categories
- check_circleDevelop and manage partnerships with OEMs, authorized refurbishers, and liquidators to ensure consistent supply
- check_circleDefine grading standards, pricing strategies, and margin targets to maximize profitability and customer value
- check_circleNegotiate and manage vendor-funded marketing, merchandising, and VIR programs
- check_circleRecommend and direct the development of category strategies and tactical plans
- check_circleCoordinate with Web Development and Marketing teams to maximize merchandising opportunities
- check_circleCollaborate with QA, Services, Operations, and Inventory teams to ensure product quality and lifecycle management
- check_circleAnalyze return streams, repair yields, and secondary market trends to identify new buying opportunities
- check_circleMonitor competitive refurbished pricing and marketplace dynamics to maintain value leadership
- check_circleAccurately forecast demand to ensure proper stocking levels for top-selling products
- check_circleCollaborate with Distribution, Retail, Finance, and Planning teams to achieve category objectives
Requirements
- verifiedB.S Degree in Retail Merchandising, Marketing, or Business preferred
- verifiedMinimum of 5 years experience buying refurbished, open-box, returns, or secondary-market consumer electronics
- verifiedWorking knowledge of refurbishment processes, product grading, warranty programs, and reverse logistics
- verifiedKnowledge of purchasing and forecasting systems required
- verifiedProficiency in MS Office with emphasis on Excel and Outlook
