In the performance of one's job, the employee reflects the mission, vision, and values by participating in the provision of convenient, cost-effective, and quality surgical care. Our core values guide every interaction: Confidentiality, Quality, Teamwork, Trust, and Respect.
The Radiology Technologist is a vital member of the surgical team, operating under minimum supervision to perform X-ray and fluoroscopy procedures in the operating and special procedure rooms. This role is essential for ensuring the seamless integration of imaging technology within the sterile environment of the OR.
Beyond imaging, the Radiology Technologist plays a hands-on role in departmental operations. Responsibilities include processing films, maintaining and documenting equipment calibration, and assisting in the preparation of surgical cases by "picking cases." The role also involves active participation in instrument processing and the operation of washer-sterilizers, dryers, and ultrasonic cleaners. Success in this position requires the ability to manage radiology equipment while strictly maintaining the sterile field and adhering to infection control standards.
This position operates within a normal hospital environment, which includes exposure to chemical odors, cleaning solvents, and other hazardous materials. The role involves working with electrical equipment and lasers, requiring strict adherence to safety procedures to prevent injury. As a Category I position per OSHA guidelines, there is exposure to blood and body fluids; therefore, policies for Universal Precautions and appropriate barrier protection are strictly enforced.
The physical demands of the role vary from sedentary tasks to heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs maximum), requiring the ability to stand, walk, reach, and adjust focus for close, distance, and peripheral vision. The role demands resilience to work effectively in stressful situations while maintaining professional boundaries and a spirit of teamwork.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited training program and hold current A.R.T.T. Certification. A minimum of two years of radiology technologist experience is required, with special procedure experience preferred. Successful completion of BLS certification is also mandatory.
