Key Responsibilities
- check_circleConduct internal and external patrols of all hospital facilities and grounds
- check_circleRespond to routine and emergency calls for service and building alarms
- check_circleRestrain violent patients and visitors using least invasive measures
- check_circleMonitor assigned areas for suspicious activity and screen vendors and visitors
- check_circleProvide escorts to patients, visitors, and staff in conformance with procedures
- check_circleIdentify security vulnerabilities and safety hazards and report deficiencies
- check_circleProvide excellent customer service with dignity, respect, and professionalism
- check_circleParticipate in investigations, conduct interviews, and secure evidence as required
- check_circleAssist with emergencies and disasters including crowd control and evacuations
- check_circleGrant or restrict access to locked areas based on hospital identification badges
- check_circleUtilize verbal and nonverbal de-escalation strategies during stressful circumstances
- check_circleComplete accurate and comprehensive written incident reports for all occurrences
Requirements
- verifiedHigh School diploma or equivalent
- verifiedValid state issued driver's license
- verifiedPossess IAHSS Basic certification as a Healthcare Security Officer within 1 year of hire
- verifiedAssociates degree in Criminal Justice or related area (preferred)
- verifiedExperience in military, security, or police (preferred)
- verifiedSecurity or first responder certifications such as de-escalation/crisis response, CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, or Nasal Naloxone Certification (preferred)
- verifiedGraduate of an approved law enforcement training program or Police Academy and possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid POST Certification from the Commonwealth of MA (preferred)
- verifiedAbility to obtain and maintain a valid MA License to Carry Firearms (preferred)
- verifiedProficient in communicating, reading, and writing in English
- verifiedBasic Computer Skills required
Nice to Have
Associates degree in Criminal Justice or related area. Experience in military, security, or police. Security or first responder certifications such as de-escalation/crisis response, CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, or Nasal Naloxone Certification. Graduate of an approved law enforcement training program or Police Academy and possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid POST Certification from the Commonwealth of MA. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid MA License to Carry Firearms.
