Our team of more than 7,000 professionals worldwide delivers all-domain expertise and advanced technologies in service of mission partners across the globe. Mission Technologies is leading the next evolution of national defense—the data evolution—by accelerating a breadth of national security solutions for government and commercial customers. Our capabilities range from C5ISR, AI and Big Data, cyber operations, and synthetic training environments to fleet sustainment, environmental remediation, and the largest family of unmanned underwater vehicles in every class.
As a trusted partner to our military customers, HII designs, develops, and operates the largest Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) enterprise that prepares warfighters for cross-domain battle. With advanced technologies to enable mission readiness, HII understands that preparation requires full coordination—not readiness in piece-parts. For more than 40 years, the U.S. Navy has entrusted HII to maintain and modernize the vast majority of its fleet. With a holistic approach to life-cycle maritime defense systems, HII ensures a high state of readiness. Additionally, HII supports the Department of Energy's national security mission through the management and operation of its sites, as well as the safe cleanup of legacy waste across the country.
This opportunity resides with Global Security (GS) within Mission Technologies. This is an unpaid internship through the DoD Skillbridge Program designed specifically for transitioning active-duty U.S. military personnel during their final 180 days of service. The program aims to help transitioning service members gain real-world experience in the workforce, with positions focused on matching their existing Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) to roles that could easily transition into full-time careers with HII.
The intern will train as a Project Manager - C2 Subject Matter Expert (SME), supporting the Distributed Training Operations Center (DTOC) contract. Under the supervision of HII Program Managers, Capture Managers, and technical leads, you will gain hands-on experience in program management processes, contract execution, business development workflows, and DTOC mission understanding. You will work closely with a mentor and senior company leadership, collaborating cross-functionally across engineering, training, and PMO teams.
All work products will be reviewed, validated, and released exclusively by HII employees to ensure full compliance with DoD SkillBridge restrictions. This training is conducted remotely or from an HII office, not on military installations. While you will participate in real PM and business development tasks, you will not perform billable work, independently deliver products to customers, or act as an HII representative to external clients.
Over the course of this 12-week program, you will progress through a structured curriculum designed to bridge your military operational experience with civilian program management and business development disciplines. The journey begins with foundational orientation to HII's PM frameworks, contract structures, and the DTOC mission environment. As you advance, you will engage in capture strategy, proposal development, and program execution, eventually culminating in a capstone project where you present findings to mentors.
By the end of the training, you will have strengthened your communication, documentation, and PM discipline, preparing you for a transition into Program Management, Capture, or C2-related industry roles. HII Mission Technologies will benefit from your operational insight, maintenance expertise, and disciplined approach to technical data accuracy and sustainment readiness.
