Butcher Power Products (BPP) designs and manufactures mission-critical and industrial power solutions for essential infrastructure nationwide. Headquartered in Sacramento, CA, our teams collaborate closely across engineering, manufacturing, and operations to build reliable, high-quality systems. We take pride in delivering work that truly matters, ensuring our customers can depend on our power solutions in the most demanding environments.
The Project Controller serves as the primary steward of project cost integrity, assuming full accountability for the financial accuracy of all active projects. This role is not merely about tracking numbers; it is about ensuring every expenditure is captured, correctly allocated, and reconciled against approved budgets to reflect operational reality at all times.
You will function as the financial authority for project operations—proactive, accountable, and consultative. Working in close partnership with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Finance, you will bridge the gap between operational activity and financial data. Your day will involve analyzing patterns in budget vs. actual data to identify upstream issues in quoting, estimating, or labor scoping, and presenting well-reasoned recommendations to leadership. You will drive the culture of accurate labor capture and cost allocation, building trust across departments to influence behavior and ensure organization-wide adherence to cost standards.
We are looking for a highly self-directed professional who combines analytical rigor with interpersonal effectiveness. You are the type of person who identifies and resolves cost gaps without direction and holds teams accountable for data entry without creating friction. You possess equal fluency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) and the financial principles that underpin sound project costing. You approach inefficiency and data quality gaps as problems to be solved systematically, operating with both urgency and accuracy in a fast-moving environment.
Candidates selected for this role will move through a structured interview process designed to assess both technical proficiency and cultural fit. This typically includes an initial screening to verify experience with project controls and D365, followed by a deeper technical discussion regarding cost management strategies and system configuration. The final stage involves meeting with cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate collaboration skills and problem-solving approaches.
Butcher Power Products is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. If you require a reasonable accommodation during the application or interview process, please let us know. Compensation ranges are provided in accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws.
