About the Organization

The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) provides the youth of our city a sense of belonging and vital tools and experiences to succeed in life. Our mission is to encourage a diverse population of high-need young people to explore their full potential through academic, career, family, and community life.

Our comprehensive services include academic support and college counseling, job placement and employment training, substance use and violence prevention education, crisis intervention and mediation, leadership development, and technology and computer training.

About the Role

As a Program Specialist (STEAM), you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and facilitating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) programs at various agency sites. This temporary part-time summer position (June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026) is designed to help CYC staff coordinate and integrate summer learning outcomes while promoting 21st-century skills development.

In this role, you will create diverse curriculums and teach innovative maker/STEAM programs that engage community members and school-age children. You will be instrumental in establishing and maintaining positive, safe learning environments, utilizing restorative practices to mediate conflicts and manage classroom dynamics. Your work will extend beyond the classroom to include collaborating with staff on culminating events that celebrate youth accomplishments and maintaining strong communication with parents and guardians.

Equal Opportunity

CYC is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and will not discriminate against any applicant or employee on the basis of race, age, religion, gender, marital status, national origin, citizenship, ancestry, physical or mental disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other basis recognized by federal, state, or local law, including on the basis of the intersection of two or more protected characteristics (intersectional discrimination).

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records for employment.
