About the Role
The Operator Apprentice position at our Henderson sawmill is an entry-level role designed for self-motivated individuals ready to launch a career in manufacturing. This position serves as a foundation, with the expectation that successful candidates will advance into progressively skilled positions within the company. We pride ourselves on a culture that strongly believes in promoting from within, providing a challenging environment with continuous development.
In this role, you will be part of a team that values cross-training and versatility. You will be given appropriate time to train and will be expected to cross-train within any department. Your day-to-day will involve performing entry-level lumberyard duties, monitoring lumber movement, and ensuring smooth operations by clearing jams and preventing cross-ups. You will also engage in housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and safety observations, working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. This is an opportunity to learn basic computer operating skills, assist with equipment servicing, and potentially train others as you grow your expertise.
