About the Role
The Information Assurance (IA) Security Administrator – Vulnerability Assessment Analyst is a pivotal member of the DHA Domain and Directory Services Branch (DDSB). This position is dedicated to safeguarding the Military Health System by performing continuous monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and remediation validation for enterprise IT systems.
In this role, you will serve as a critical line of defense, ensuring strict compliance with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), DHA security directives, and enterprise cybersecurity standards. Your work directly strengthens the DHA's cybersecurity posture, reducing cyber risk across the organization and protecting mission-critical healthcare IT infrastructure.
Day in the Life
Your daily activities involve conducting credentialed vulnerability scans using tools such as ACAS and Nessus to ensure complete coverage of enterprise servers, endpoints, and applications. You will analyze identified vulnerabilities and misconfigurations, providing risk-based recommendations to system administrators and security teams. A significant portion of your time will be spent maintaining accurate asset inventories in ACAS and eMASS, developing Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) for unremediated vulnerabilities, and generating weekly compliance reports.
You will also collaborate closely with Control Assessors, Systems Administrators, and engineering teams to integrate vulnerability assessment results into broader risk assessments and accreditation packages. Additionally, you will support incident response efforts by identifying exploited vulnerabilities and documenting necessary corrective actions.
