The Production Specialist III serves as the creative and technical backbone of Missouri City's public communication efforts. In this role, you will coordinate television and audiovisual production for the City's government access channel (MCTV), website, and social media outlets. Your primary mission is to build, promote, and maintain a positive image for the City through effective public relations, media coverage, and compelling storytelling.
Reporting directly to the Senior Producer/Communications Manager, you will act as a bridge between City departments and the public. You will collaborate with staff to ensure pertinent events and activities are covered, producing educational, training, and safety videos that serve the community's needs. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and creative vision to manage complex video projects from concept to final broadcast.
Your work will span both studio and field environments. You will plan and facilitate production activities, interacting with clients and City staff to gather requirements and coordinate logistics. A typical day might involve setting up and operating video and audio equipment, directing shoots, and performing on-camera or voice-over work for City productions.
Post-production is a significant component of the role, where you will review footage, make editorial decisions, and apply color correction and special effects. You will also manage the technical side of live broadcasts for City Council meetings and work sessions, operating control room equipment and switching cameras in real-time. Additionally, you will maintain the City's digital presence by scheduling automated playback, promoting content on social media, and ensuring all submissions adhere to government access channel policies.
Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by the Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development. The selection process may include a review of qualifications, an interview, and potentially a practical assessment of video production skills. Please note that this position is subject to a 24-hour recall requirement and may involve working irregular hours to capture City events.
Missouri City is an equal opportunity employer. The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development considers an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience for qualification purposes. Missouri City, Texas
The City of Missouri City operates as a local government administration entity headquartered in Missouri City, Texas, serving residents and businesses within Fort Bend and Harris counties. Located approximately 20 miles southwest of downtown Houston, the municipality functions as a key community in the greater Houston metropolitan area. Its strategic positioning includes direct access to major transportation corridors such as U.S. Highway 90A, U.S. Highway 59, State Highway 6, Beltway 8, and the Fort Bend Tollway, facilitating connectivity across the region.
Established in 1890 by real estate investors R.M. Cash and L.E. Luckle, the city originated as a development project inspired by the region's climate. Early growth was driven by the construction of the Buffalo Bayou, Brazos and Colorado Railroads, which supported local industries including the Blue Ridge oil field, salt mining, and the sugar cane sector. The first commercial enterprise was a blacksmith shop, followed by the establishment of a railroad depot in 1902. Today, the city maintains its historical roots while continuing to provide essential public services to its population.
