The Procurement Specialist II serves as a strategic partner within Zachry's procurement team, focusing on the sourcing of medium and high-criticality materials, equipment, and subcontracts. This role is designed for an expert-level practitioner who not only manages the full contract lifecycle but also drives the commercial analysis of bidder proposals and leads the negotiation process from RFP solicitation through award.
Beyond individual execution, this position acts as a leader within the team. You will be expected to assign work, oversee activities for less tenured peers, and provide mentorship to Procurement Specialists I and II. The role bridges the gap between Deal Development and Project Execution, ensuring that estimating support and procurement activities align seamlessly with project needs from the initial phases through to close-out.
Your work will center on managing complex, high-profile technical items in a fast-paced corporate environment. You will lead procurement execution for critical sourcing events, developing robust sourcing strategies and performance-based scopes of work. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to engaging with suppliers, conducting bidder conferences, and facilitating discussions between bidders and technical personnel to ensure best-value outcomes.
You will serve as a key liaison between the Project Management Team (PMT), engineers, construction teams, and external stakeholders, maintaining transparency and resolving contractual issues as they arise. Whether participating in kick-off meetings, negotiating change orders, or analyzing proposals, you will ensure compliance with Zachry's standard operating procedures while leveraging tools like Oracle and Dragnet to drive efficiency.
Candidates for this role will be evaluated on their ability to work independently, plan ahead, and bring critical issues to management's attention. The selection process prioritizes those who can thrive in a detail-oriented, fast-paced environment and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office and industry-specific digital document platforms.
