The System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department ensures that Safety and Human Factors disciplines are incorporated into all engineering and program execution. Our mission is to provide customers with critical needs by integrating safety into every phase of product development, from design to disposal.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join our team onsite in Woburn, MA. In this role, you will develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs, managing task series for analysis, evaluation, and verification. You will serve as a bridge between engineering functions and program leadership, interpreting system requirements and military standards to recommend compliance strategies.
Your day-to-day involves collaborating across integrated product teams—including Systems, Software, Firmware, and Hardware Engineering—to identify and mitigate risks. You will analyze engineering hardware and schematics to assess fault tolerance and latent hazards, while managing safety-related interactions with suppliers and subcontractors. As a mentor to junior engineers, you will lead System Safety Working Groups, engage in engineering review boards, and establish feedback loops with functional and program management to ensure safety features are integrated into the product lifecycle.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid, or remote. The DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. More information about Security Clearances can be found on the US Department of State government website.
Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX, we value Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation. We are committed to identifying best practices to improve the overall safety culture and shape system safety postures across the lifecycle.
