Steel sits at the crux of every major industrial market, ranging from automotive to agriculture. Beyond its traditional uses, it has evolved into a space-age material, finding new applications yearly in energy generation, machine learning, and decarbonization.
The Americas steel team is uniquely positioned to help the global steel industry price and source the next generation of highly recycled, low-carbon ferrous materials. As part of this mission, the team works to foster Fastmarkets' prices and expertise through comprehensive market engagement plans, including the production of PRA content, white papers, and infographics, as well as active participation in internal and external events and social media.
About the Role
This role is designed for an emerging analyst ready to master the fundamentals of the North American steel market, with a particular focus on Mexico and the tubular markets surrounding the Gulf of Mexico. You will be supported by senior colleagues as you learn to collect pricing data and set price assessments in line with the company's methodology, price specifications, and IOSCO principles.
Your day-to-day will involve writing market commentaries, breaking news, and insightful copy with PRA angles to support the growth in readership and the adoption of Fastmarkets' prices in physical and financial contracts. You will also support colleagues on their beats to build a wider knowledge base, manage and expand the network of industry contacts that submit pricing data, and attend meetings to report on events and webinars on behalf of the company.
