About the Role
As a Police Officer, you will serve as the backbone of our community, enforcing laws, protecting life and property, and investigating crimes. Your day-to-day work involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to calls for assistance, and taking appropriate action to control and restrain potentially violent persons. You will investigate suspicious activities, assist other law enforcement agencies with backup, and participate in rescue activities for the sick and injured.
Beyond enforcement, this role requires you to arrest, transport, and book violators, serve warrants, and prepare detailed reports on felony and misdemeanor crimes. You will conduct investigations, gather and analyze evidence, and testify in court as required. A key part of your mission is promoting crime prevention programs at local schools and within the community, fostering strong relationships with residents while upholding the highest standards of integrity and respect.
Hiring Process and Application
The City of San Luis is committed to finding the most qualified candidates. Hiring Incentives
To attract top talent, the City offers retention incentives paid in January and July, subject to funding availability. A retention agreement must be signed before the first payment is received.
- Non-Certified Officers: Eligible for up to $1,000 upon successfully completing the Police Academy and Field Training (FTO) or On-the-Job Training.
- Lateral Hires: Eligible for up to $10,000 if they possess current Arizona POST Certification (or meet eligibility for an AZPOST Waiver) and have worked as a Police Officer in a non-training capacity within the last 5 years.
Incentive amounts are determined by years of experience:
- Certified with 3+ years of experience: Up to $10,000
- Certified with 1-3 years of experience: Up to $5,000
- Certified applicants with no experience: Up to $1,000
