Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement career that combines aviation expertise with national security.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a critical asset in aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for experienced pilots seeking a rewarding career with exceptional stability and the chance to make a tangible impact on border security. You will partner with ground assets to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior patterns, analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This is a full-time, security-based position where your skills directly support the agency's operational requirements across the Southwest and Southeast Border Regions, the Caribbean Air and Marine Branch, and National Air Security Operation Centers.
The recruitment process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous, designed to identify the most qualified candidates. There are three primary ways to apply:
Candidates who apply with fewer than 1,000 flight hours (depending on waivers) must obtain the required hours at their own expense before attending the assessment. Successful candidates will complete a three-part assessment, after which a duty location will be offered based on operational needs. A one-year service agreement is required to retain the recruitment incentive.
We are actively seeking seasoned pilots and those with military training to join our ranks. Whether you are a new hire or a veteran, AMO offers a career path with excellent pay, federal benefits, and job stability. We encourage all qualified applicants to stay updated on opportunities by opting into CBP's talent repository, which provides monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future openings.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. Veterans' preference eligibility is recognized in accordance with federal statutes, and specific age waivers may apply for those with creditable law enforcement service or veterans' preference.
