Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where their aviation expertise directly supports national security.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a critical asset in aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for experienced pilots seeking a rewarding career that combines high-stakes mission work with the stability of federal employment. You will partner with ground assets to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land, air, or sea. Your day-to-day involves monitoring suspect behavior patterns, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This is a security-based position where your ability to make rapid, judicious decisions in-flight is essential to the team's success.
The recruitment process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous, designed to identify the most qualified candidates. There are three primary ways to apply: submit the applicant checklist and resume via email to a recruiter, apply through USAJOBS, or apply via Airline Apps. Highly recommended candidates also opt into CBP's talent repository to receive updates on webinars and career expos.
Successful applicants must complete a three-part assessment. Upon completion of this assessment, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. New hires are required to successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC) as a condition of employment. Failure to complete the required training may result in separation or reassignment.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. Veterans' preference eligibility is recognized in accordance with federal statutes, and specific age waivers may apply for those with creditable law enforcement service or veterans' preference status.
