Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement career that combines aviation expertise with national security.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a critical asset in aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for experienced pilots seeking a rewarding career with exceptional stability and the chance to make a tangible impact on border security. You will partner with ground and air assets to conduct surveillance, pursue smugglers, and support search and rescue efforts.
The day-to-day life of an AIA involves high-stakes decision-making in diverse environments. You will conduct air patrols to monitor suspect behavior, analyze strategic intelligence, and execute interdiction missions against land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Whether operating in the Southeast, Southwest, or Caribbean regions, you will be part of a dynamic team where your skills directly contribute to the safety of the nation.
AMO utilizes a streamlined application process for qualified candidates. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository. Select the Contact a Recruiter button, choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest, and complete the pre-screening questions. This ensures you receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment to determine their final duty location. Locations are assigned based on operational and mission requirements, and you must be willing to work at any duty location within the region you select (Southeast, Southwest, or NASOC UAS locations).
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
Age & Veterans: While the standard maximum age for initial appointment to a primary law enforcement officer within DHS is 37, the Commissioner of CBP has approved a temporary increase to age 40 for Air Interdiction Agents. Veterans' preference eligibility under 5 U.S.C. 3312 may also exempt candidates from the maximum age requirement. Proof of Veteran's Preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) must be submitted at the time of application.
