Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. The group is defined by its camaraderie, pride, and a shared sense of purpose in its daily mission to secure the nation's borders.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will join a rewarding career in aviation-based law enforcement. Your primary mission is to detect, prevent, and apprehend terrorists, weapons, and contraband attempting to illegally enter or attack the United States. This role offers the opportunity to work with a skilled team of pilots and professionals in a dynamic environment where you will conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities against smuggled goods via land, air, and sea. You will also play a critical role in monitoring suspect activities, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
AMO is actively recruiting for these full-time security-based positions, with a particular demand for seasoned pilots and those with military training. The role offers excellent pay, exceptional federal benefits, and job stability within a streamlined application process.
There are three primary ways to apply to become an Air Interdiction Agent:
Stay Updated: It is highly recommended to opt into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button. Choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest, then complete the pre-screening questions. This ensures you receive monthly updates regarding webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment and Location: A duty location will be offered after successfully completing a three-part assessment. Locations are determined by operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any duty location within the selected region, which may include the Southeast Region (e.g., Homestead, FL), Southwest Region (e.g., Tucson, AZ; San Diego, CA), or NASOC UAS locations (e.g., Sierra Vista, AZ).
We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. As a federal law enforcement position within the Department of Homeland Security, this role adheres to strict citizenship and residency requirements, including a maximum age limit for original appointment (currently 40 for this specific position, with provisions for veterans' preference eligibility). Successful candidates must be U.S. citizens and meet specific medical and flight hour standards. Training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC) is a condition of employment.
