Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from entering the United States via land, air, or sea.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will join a rewarding career in aviation-based law enforcement. This role is designed for skilled pilots seeking a dynamic environment where they can apply their expertise to national security. You will partner with a diverse team to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities, while also supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
The day-to-day life of an AIA involves monitoring behavior patterns of suspect persons and vessels, collecting strategic intelligence, and making rapid, judicious decisions during in-flight operations. Whether operating in the Southeast, Southwest, or at National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC), you will be part of a mission-critical force ensuring the safety of the nation's borders.
AMO offers a streamlined application process for qualified candidates. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository. Select the Contact a Recruiter button, choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent, and complete the pre-screening questions. This ensures you receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment. Upon completion, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any location within the selected region (Southeast, Southwest, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch, or NASOC UAS locations).
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
Veterans' Preference: To ensure compliance with statutes, the maximum age requirement for original appointment does not apply to individuals entitled to veterans' preference eligibility under 5 U.S.C. 3312. Proof of eligibility (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) must be submitted at the time of application.
Age Requirements: While the standard maximum age for initial appointment to a primary law enforcement officer within DHS is the day before an individual's 37th birthday, the Commissioner of CBP has approved a temporary increase to age 40 for original placement into an Air Interdiction Agent position. Creditable law enforcement service may also be applied toward this requirement.
