Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. The culture of the team is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose in law enforcement. AMO offers skilled pilots an opportunity to join a mission-driven organization where daily operations focus on the detection, prevention, and interdiction of terrorists, weapons, and contraband entering the United States illegally.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a security-based professional performing aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding career with exceptional federal benefits and job stability. You will work alongside a team of professionals to conduct air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior patterns, collecting and analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. The role demands rapid decision-making and the ability to operate in diverse environments, including night flights, poor weather, and low altitudes.
AMO utilizes a streamlined application process for full-time security-based opportunities. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: It is highly recommended to opt into CBP's talent repository by selecting the "Contact a Recruiter" button. Choose "Air and Marine Operations" and "Air Interdiction Agent" as your position of interest to complete pre-screening questions. This ensures you receive monthly updates regarding webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment and Placement: Successful candidates must complete a three-part assessment. Duty locations are assigned based on operational and mission requirements after this assessment. Candidates must be willing to work at any location within the selected region (Southeast, Southwest, CAMB, or NASOC UAS locations).
We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. The agency is committed to diversity and inclusion within its ranks. Veterans' preference eligibility is recognized in accordance with federal statutes, and specific provisions exist for creditable law enforcement service regarding age requirements. The organization values the unique skills of military pilots and seasoned aviation professionals, actively recruiting those with diverse flight backgrounds to strengthen the team.
