Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where their aviation expertise directly supports national security.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a critical asset in aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for experienced pilots who want to transition into a rewarding federal career that combines high-stakes mission work with exceptional job stability. You will partner with ground assets to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land, air, or sea. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior patterns, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This is a full-time, security-based position where your skills in rapid decision-making and aircraft operation are essential to the team's success.
The recruitment process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous, designed to identify the most qualified candidates. There are three primary ways to apply: submit the applicant checklist and resume via email to a recruiter, apply through USAJOBS, or apply via Airline Apps. Highly recommended, candidates can also opt into CBP's talent repository to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment. Upon completion, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any location within the selected region, including the Southeast, Southwest, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch, or National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC).
AMO is actively recruiting seasoned pilots and those with military training to fill these critical roles. We offer a career path with excellent pay, exceptional federal benefits, and the chance to work with a team that values purpose and professionalism. New hires may be eligible for significant recruitment and retention incentives, including one-time payouts upon completing the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC). This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on border security while enjoying the stability and perks of federal employment.
