Banner Childrens at Desert Medical Center in Mesa is a state-of-the-art, 206-bed children's hospital that opened in 2009. It provides comprehensive pediatric care ranging from general services to emergency, including specialized units for pediatric cancer, a 24-bed PICU, and a Level 3 NICU staffed 24 hours by neonatologists and nurse practitioners. The facility serves a pediatric population of over 350,000 in the Phoenix metro area, handling 90,000 annual visits to our child-friendly pediatric EDs. The hospital features a child-friendly atmosphere with soothing colors, dedicated play areas, and a volunteer dog therapy program to support young patients and their families.
