About the Team
CHRISTUS Southern New Mexico is a 100-bed, not-for-profit acute care hospital and a vital part of CHRISTUS Health, one of the largest Catholic health systems in the United States. Serving as the primary medical center for Otero County and surrounding communities, the hospital provides a comprehensive range of services including emergency medicine, surgery, orthopedics, women's health, behavioral health, and cancer care. Patients benefit from modern operating rooms, labor and delivery suites, advanced imaging, and a full spectrum of outpatient services, all while being connected to a broader network of more than 60 CHRISTUS facilities across the U.S. and internationally.
About the Role
We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Gastroenterologist to join our established practice as the region's primary provider of digestive health services. This is a 100% outpatient opportunity designed to offer a balanced lifestyle with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including half a day for administrative hours. The role involves managing a patient volume of 15-20 patients daily and handling 40-60 provider referrals.
Our clinic is equipped with private exam rooms, dedicated procedure space, advanced endoscopy equipment, and an in-house lab. The practice scope includes in-office procedures such as hemorrhoid banding, FibroScan, and PillCam. For advanced cases, providers have full access to hospital resources, including four operating rooms with block scheduling available, as well as outpatient surgeries performed at the adjacent Scenic View Surgery Center. Call responsibilities are shared with two currently practicing locums providers.

Alamogordo is an enchanting city where adventure and culture converge. Located just 15 minutes from White Sands National Park, the area offers over 100 trails for hiking, mountain biking, and ATV riding. Residents can explore local history at the New Mexico Museum of Space History or the Tularosa Basin Museum of History. The region is also home to the Heart of the Desert - Eagle Ranch, featuring New Mexico's largest pistachio groves and a winery offering seven varieties of wine.
As a family-friendly community, Alamogordo is conveniently located near several other destinations: 1.5 hours from El Paso, 1 hour from Ruidoso, and 3 hours from Albuquerque. Just 27 minutes away, Cloudcroft offers a respite from the summer heat, sitting 20 degrees cooler in the Lincoln National Forest. This mountain town features breathtaking trails, abundant wildlife including elk and deer, and the Cloudcroft Lodge Resort & Spa, which hosts one of the highest golf courses in the country.
