Located in the heart of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle, the Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) sits on 175 acres in historic Berkeley County. Serving a diverse area of more than 70,000 Veterans across West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, the center is part of the VA Capitol Health Care Network (VISN 5). The facility offers a comprehensive range of services, from internal medicine and ambulatory surgery to mental health and rehabilitation medicine. Our mission is to honor America's Veterans as heroes by providing the highest quality health care through an integrated primary care concept, where each veteran is assigned to a dedicated team of providers who follow their care from inpatient to outpatient settings.
As a Cardiologist at the Martinsburg VAMC, you will join a dedicated team committed to improving the quality of life for eligible veterans. You will perform both inpatient and outpatient cardiology consultations and interpret a wide array of diagnostic tests, including treadmill stress tests, nuclear scanning, echocardiography, Zio patches, and Holter monitors. Working collaboratively as a team, you will meet the complex treatment needs of our patients while participating in quality assurance programs and chart reviews. Your expertise will support various functions of non-invasive cardiology, ranging from comprehensive cardiac services and stress echocardiograms to TEE and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations. Beyond clinical duties, you will provide education and counseling to veterans and their families regarding preventive care and treatment plans, while also supporting academic affiliations by teaching residents and medical students.
Martinsburg, WV, offers a family-oriented community with a suburban feel, yet remains close to major cities. The VAMC culture is defined by a deep dedication to veterans, fostering professional working relationships with clinical service providers across the medical center, outpatient clinics, and community base outpatient clinics. While research is not required, it is encouraged and supported by the VA, offering opportunities for study design, data collection, and publication. The role requires a willingness to be on call and work weekends and irregular hours to ensure continuous, high-quality care.
