About the Role

As a Physical Therapist at VCUHS, you will be the primary provider of care for your assigned patient population, ensuring high-quality treatment delivery and accurate documentation within the hospital medical record. This role is designed for a collaborative professional who acts as a consultant to various patient clinics, offering instruction and guidance to PT support staff, students, colleagues from other disciplines, and patients and their families.

You will work within a self-directed team environment, applying your knowledge to solve daily clinic problems. While you will have the autonomy to evaluate patients, implement plans of care, manage discharge planning, order equipment, and represent the department at rounds, you will also bring unresolved issues to the departmental manager for guidance. This position offers the opportunity to rotate through various clinical service areas, serving a diverse age-specific population ranging from Pediatrics and Adolescence to Adults and Geriatrics.

Work Environment

This role operates in a fast-paced, steady-pace environment that requires the ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to frequent changes. You will engage in frequent and intense customer interactions within a potentially noisy setting. The physical demands of the job include lifting 50-100 lbs, frequent bending, walking, climbing steps or ladders, and performing repetitive overhead reaching and motion. Strong mental recall, reasoning, and problem-solving skills are essential to navigate the complexities of patient care.
