Pain Science Physical Therapy (PSPT), established in 2009 and formerly known as Lake Burien Physical Therapy, is a community-based clinic located in Burien, Washington. Founded by Orit Hickman, PT DPT TPS, a clinician with over 22 years of experience who still treats patients today, the company rebranded in July 2021 to reflect its specialized focus on pain science.
We are a private practice orthopedic clinic that rejects the "cookie-cutter" or "factory" model of physical therapy. Instead, we utilize a biopsychosocial approach, specializing in Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE), Graded Motor Imagery (GMI), and graded exposure for patients with nociplastic and persistent pain. Our mission is "to be the difference that instills hope" for both our patients and our staff.
Our culture is built on four core values:
We are seeking full-time clinicians to join our team. This role is ideal for those strongly interested in Pain Science and the biopsychosocial treatment model. New graduates are highly encouraged to apply and will participate in a comprehensive 6-month mentorship program. All new hires receive specialized training in PNE and GMI.
In this position, you will treat patients both in-person and via telehealth. We maintain a sustainable caseload, with full-time clinicians treating no more than 50 patients per week and initial evaluations limited per day to prevent overload. If you are interested in management positions, you will be expected to pursue advanced training.
To apply, please submit a cover letter along with your resume. In your cover letter, please detail why you feel you would be a good fit for the position and our core values. We welcome questions about the role and encourage you to reach out before applying.
