Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center (KFRC) serves as the regional rehabilitation hospital for the Northern California Kaiser Health System. Located in Vallejo, approximately 34 miles north of San Francisco, the facility operates a 53-bed unit serving a population base of over ten million members. The physiatry group consists of eight physicians who collaborate to lead the future of health care within the Permanente Medical Group, an organization with an 80-year tradition of quality care and over 10,000 physicians across Northern and Central California.
This position offers a dynamic opportunity to manage a diverse caseload of inpatients and outpatients with complex diagnoses, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple trauma, and amputation. The role extends beyond acute management to include outpatient care, electrodiagnostic studies, and spasticity management such as intrathecal baclofen pump management and botulinum toxin injections. The group also operates a multidisciplinary Orthotics and Prosthetics Clinic and a Spinal Cord Injury Wellness clinic.
Physicians will provide consultative services in the acute care hospital in Vallejo and the nearby Level 2 trauma center in Vacaville. The position involves shared call responsibilities, with hospitalist assistance provided on weekends. Success in this role requires strong clinical and academic credentials, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary environment. While spinal cord injury medicine fellowship training or sub-specialty certification is preferred, it is not required.
