The Pharmacy Accounts Receivable Specialist serves as the principal point of contact and content manager for revenue across all UVMMC Outpatient Pharmacy operations. This role acts as the critical bridge between pharmacy staff, payers, PBM networks (including Medicare and Medicaid), and revenue system vendors. The position is dedicated to optimizing financial performance by managing claims processes, generating essential reports, and ensuring the integrity of pharmacy revenue streams.
In this capacity, the specialist manages A/R aging, performs cash reconciliation with Corporate Accounting, and provides alerts to management regarding trends in unfavorable reimbursements. The role also involves supporting network affiliates and maintaining best practice standards for revenue management.
A key component of this position is participating in routine pharmacy audits conducted by payers, PBMs, and external accounting auditors. The specialist leads internal monitoring efforts to ensure proper documentation, timely submissions, and effective follow-up to guarantee compliance and payment. Additionally, the role includes routine monitoring of Direct and Indirect Remuneration (DIR) fees to proactively identify areas of risk that could lead to revenue loss for the organization.
